LEGOs are wonderful things. We've pored over the pieces, hunched over and our necks warmed by the fluorescent as we construct miniaturised versions of complicated machines; little colourful bricks that build worlds and dreams but we never think they could push the envelope by making another lovely engineering excellence.
Like the Ferrari piece that we put together last year and for this year, we direct attention to something slightly more technical—the Technic McLaren Formula 1 race car. Inspired by the team's 2021 season livery, this LEGO Technic version is like the life-size version in many ways. From its suspension, the V6 cylinder engine with moving pistons, the differential lock… which is crazy because this Technic McLaren F1 model isn't cornering any bends at high speed any time soon. Definitely a showroom piece.
Constructed out of 1,432 pieces, the model measures over 13 cm high, 65 cm long and 27 cm wide and isn't an exact replica of the actual McLaren F1 car, there are some creative liberties taken with the LEGO model. One of things that are still constant… is the sponsor stickers. Whether you wanna put them on the model is entirely up to how consumerist you're feeling.
