Do you like coffee? Do you like tea? Boy do we have just the thing for you. No but seriously, there's good reason to rave about this. Most of us enjoy a good cuppa Joe; whether in the form of Nespresso capsules, overpriced Starbucks drinks (yeah sue me), or a cold brew subscription from the last Phase 2. A great many of us also indulge in the wide selection of bubble tea that is likely powering our economy, so this is quite literally the best of both worlds.
Specialty coffee, meet artisanal tea
Rather than adding syrups or artificial ingredients to flavour the coffee, thereby tampering with an otherwise robust roast, Aroma Coffee & Co (from Aroma Truffle & Co) decided to infuse artisanal teas to preserve an organic taste profile. We've tried them and they are nothing short of delicious.
You get a medium-to-full bodied brew with low acidity and the fruity notes of tea coming through. It shouldn't be surprising when the infusion technique involves cold brewing fresh milk with artisanal tea for more than 12 hours, and double shots of the signature Aroma Specialty Blend cupped from single origin beans sourced from small farmers worldwide.
The easy crowd favourites are Dirty Earl with the classic bergamot scent that blends well with the caffeine, and Creme Caramel for the sweet toffee butter tinge. For someone who occupies a niche of not being big on mint combined with things but is soothed by peppermint tea, I'm relieved that Perky Peppermint proves a delight.
The fruity options are great too. The appropriately named Summer Blossom (strawberry, lychee and white tea), the unique Mellow Melon and the bright Vineyard Peach of green rooibos and marigold bloom petals all add a nuanced touch to the coffee.
Co-founder Andrew Tjoa, certified barista and chemistry graduate, actually curated these six Spreeze (basically Ethiopian yuanyang) flavours after sampling over 82 types of artisanal tea leaves. Now if our drinks have become more sophisticated since the generation before, this elevated but unpretentious take on a coffee shop classic is the way to go.
