While we cautiously inch towards an all-clear with the pandemic, places to congregate is still verboten. This means, the sports stadiums are closed, as are the gyms and swimming pools. To tide us over Phase One, tech company, Garmin, is hosting several virtual classes to partake in June.
There are three activities you can look forward to:
GarminMyRun Virtual Workout
Headed by Garmin ambassador, Arthur Tong, each Tuesday at 7pm, you will be put through the paces. During the 30-minute class, the triathlete and strength and conditioning coach, will focus on mobility and strength; and for the post-workout, participants are strongly encouraged to go outside for a run. Join the class on Zoom (links for the sessions will be posted on Garmin's Facebook page).
Garmin Wellness Series
On the 11th and 26th of June at 8pm, Garmin's Community Manager, Edwin Shen will take you through a wellness session. Learn about the body's five key health indicators and how different series of Garmin wearables can support you in achieving your fitness goals and complement your active lifestyle. For the session on 26 June, Arthur Tong will co-host with Shen and will talk about how you can up the intensity of your post-Circuit Breaker training; discover a myriad of training techniques and body weight exercises. Both sessions are held on Google Meet. Again, if you're unable to attend these Wellness sessions, you can find the recordings on Garmin's YouTube page.
Garmin's Weekly Virtual Community Ride
If you've a bicycle trainer, you can join Garmin's virtual community ride on Zwift. Held each Thursday at 6.30pm, you can pump the pedals in this virtual experience, zooming through fake landscapes and stand a chance to win Garmin premiums. To enrol, download the Zwift app, follow "Edwin Shen (GarminSG)" and you'll get an invitation to let you into the session to compete and train with other riders.
