Remember the time when Jaime Lannister graced our Esquire’s Instagram stories? Well, that wasn’t really the King Slayer; it was just an AR of our April's cover star, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. We'll admit it, we got a little obsessed with the AR app and brought ‘Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’ wherever we went. In other AR-news…
ASOS has collaborated with HoloMe—the brains behind our dear ‘Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’—to launch ‘Virtual Catwalk’, ASOS’ first AR experience.
Available now globally via the ASOS application on iOS 11.3 devices, the Virtual Catwalk test is available for use with 100 new-in ASOS Design products. All you have to do is point your smartphone camera at any flat surfaces, click on the ‘AR’ button on the product page in-app, and voilà! The models appear in front of you, offering a 360-degree view of the product and fit.
“By allowing the consumer to bring mobile shopping into their own physical space, we can create a more intimate buying experience. We are excited to see how our technology can be used as a new way to communicate to the customer.” Janosch Amstutz, CEO of HoloMe explained.
ASOS' foray into AR is part of the company’s ongoing experiment with new tech. Keep your eyes peeled for additional AR features as the online retailer forges ahead in creating a tool to allow customers to view products on models of different sizes. Say bye-bye to the hassle and heartbreak of returning your parcel.
