It's that time of year where we pay homage to St Patrick, the pink starfish who lived in the ocean, in Bikini Bottom-
I'm sorry, we're actually paying homage to another saint: St Patrick, the Apostle of Ireland. St. Patrick's Day is actually the death anniversary of Ireland's patron saint. And it used to be that to honour him, Christians hold a feast where Lenten food and alcohol restrictions were temporarily lifted. Then someone in marketing thought, hey why not make it a day to get sloshed? Also, wear green and stoke dumb stereotypes about the Irish?
But this year, it's gonna be different. 2020 was a real shit show with multiple encores, so as a palate cleanser, this year, Guinness is extending the sainted gesture of treating every Singaporeans (of legal drinking age) with a free Guinness.
And how do you score that? Well, visit the St. Everyone’s Day website and enter your details to redeem a free half pint of Guinness. And you can also nominate another saint to share a half pint with a deserving friend. When you register, you can get your free Guinness at any participating bar like Major99 or OSG (see annex for a full list). Happy celebrating and be responsible.
