The Breitling Navitimer has always been the watch of choice for pilots all around the world, including those from our very own Singapore Airlines. With its distinctive circular slide rule, the elegant fluted turning bezel, and that unmistakeable winged shield logo, this aviation icon celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, and marking the occasion just before National Day are two new models designed in collaboration with Singapore Airlines.
Navitimer B01 Chronograph 41 Singapore Airlines Limited Edition arrives in a suave deep blue dial reminiscent of the airline’s corporate colour. Gold-toned indexes and hands bring to mind the company’s keris-inspired logo which is also engraved on the crown.
As the Breitling Navitimer is the official timepiece for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association since the 1950s, this limited edition model bears the vintage AOPA logo depicting a winged shield, as opposed to the manufacture’s more modern emblems, such as the winged B and the simplified B.
In addition to the chronograph, Breitling offers a time-only variation in the Navitimer Automatic 38 Singapore Airlines Limited Edition, also with a blue dial and gold-toned indexes and hands. Where the 41mm chronograph runs on the in-house Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, the 38mm automatic operates on the standard Breitling 17 calibre.
It also has a lovely beaded bezel which gives it a vintage appeal, as opposed to the fluted style in the chronograph, which is decidedly sportier. An additional bonus feature on the 38mm is the Singapore Airlines signature batik motif engraved on the case back, making it a choice timepiece not just for pilots but airline crew as well.
In fact, had manufacture extended the limited editions to the 35mm model, made in blue, green, red, and purple dials, we’d have the perfect watch for our Singapore Girl as well.
Presented on an elegant seven-link stainless steel bracelet, both models are limited to 100 pieces each. Retailing exclusively on Krisshop under the Batik Label concept store for S$13,950 (chronograph) and S$7,850 (automatic).
