Sure, it would be nice to step outside the humdrum of life and into a dynamic series of sharp choreography—sprinkled with a couple of hailstone-punching, no less. And though not all of us can simply spontaneously break out into dance (I mean have you seen yourself move), there's a spirit behind that drives the show.
To celebrate youth and exceptional creativity, Burberry has fostered a community across the spheres of fashion, dance, and sport. Collaborating with directors Megaforce and choreographed by French collective (LA)HORDE, the film features four young dancers; Kevin Bago, Zhané Samuels, Robinson Cassarino, and Singapore-born Chantel Foo, who you may have seen in Gucci's 'The Future is Fluid'.
‘Working on this campaign was really surreal–seeing things come together on all fronts and seeing everyone so invested to fulfil its vision, especially because it was so imaginative," Foo says, "To me, freedom is an energy to harness, knowing that the realities we live in are harsh, dynamic and ever-changing, it’s an energy that braves these realities enough to imagine and dream beyond them."
The dancers complete the stills, photographed by Rafael Pavarotti and styled by Ibrahim Kamara, echoing the same universe. Amongst the high res flurry of iconic trench coats, diamond-quilted barn jackets, recycled nylon hooded puffer jackets, spot another familiar face–English footballer Marcus Rashford MBE. This marks the 23 year old's debut in a fashion campaign.
"It is very rare that I partner in a formal capacity, but what Burberry was offering was different. Burberry shared my vision in bettering local communities through investment into youth centres, which play a pivotal role in the childhood of many, especially in under-privileged areas. We are all products of our community and youth centres offer children in those local communities stability and consistency to succeed at anything they put their minds to."
Joining forces with global charities, the luxury fashion house pledges to build a better future through the outreach programmes that provide education, protection, and empowerment for youth. By upholding creativity, the community, and the voices of the future, it's purpose enough to get us dancing in the rain.
