We are well in the midst of fashion week and so far, we've seen multiple brands coming up with interesting visual methodologies to tease and showcase their spring/summer 2022 menswear collections. Added to the list is British luxury fashion brand Burberry.
We are not entirely sure what the Burberry teaser image is supposed to be nor what it symbolises. The intended effect of such teasers has always been to incite some form of curiosity, leading to perhaps a guessing game and finally figuring it out when the show starts.
Last year, to mark Burberry's return to individual menswear shows, the brand gave out foldable outdoor chairs for viewers to experience the autumn/winter 2021 outdoor-inspired collection. This time around, the brand gave out bedsheets and pillow cases to tease the menswear presentation which further adds on to our question of what it could mean and what to expect of the show and collection.
It is also particularly suspicious that Burberry is showing during Paris Fashion Week Men's even though it is not part of the official calendar.
It's been confirmed that the menswear presentation will be set to a soundtrack by Shpongle, a psychedelic electronic music project founded by Simon Posford and Raja Ram. Ahead of the presentation, the duo also curated a playlist for fans of the brand to enjoy prior to the livestream. But other than that, we've no information if that's the only extent of Shpongle's collaboration with Burberry.
One thing's for sure, creative director Riccardo Tisci is known to come up with innovative and thought-provoking ideas so we are definitely in for a treat.
