This week for our 'Dawn to Dusk' music playlist, we caught up with Felix Sng of SWELL. Projects helmed by the award-winning designer and adjunct educator at LASALLE ranges from conceptualizing the design and executing Pulp: A Short Biography of the Banished Book (a collaboration with author Shubigi Rao) to a commissioned SG50 leaflet for the Esplanade. The former was critically recognised—snagging awards at D&AD, TDC New York, and AIGA. It's no surprise that Felix's recommended music playlist boasts an eclectic mix of contemporary and classic beats.
SWELL recently completed work, which is a publication that was launched in conjunction with the exhibition Latiff Mohidin: Pago Pago (1960-1969) at Centre Pompidou Paris and in collaboration with National Gallery Singapore. This exhibition marks the first travelling show by National Gallery Singapore and the first solo show by a South-East Asian artist at Centre Pompidou.
Latiff Mohidin is one of the key modernist artists in South-east Asia. The exhibition will showcase more than 70 works and archival materials from the 1960s, during which he travelled Europe and embarked upon a formal study of art in West Berlin, before his return to South-east Asia. The exhibition is currently available for viewing at Centre Pompidou Paris until 28 May 2018.
SWELL will also be participating in this year's Singapore Art Book Fair (29 June to 1 July 2018) at NTU Centre for Contemporary Arts in Gillman Barracks. So keep a lookout for them and support local!
