You got to love a collab. Even better if it’s with Jeff Staple, the man behind STAPLE and for causing the first mini riot over his City Pack New York edition Nike Dunk SB Lows. Fossil partners with Staple with a watch that’s inspired from the Fossil archives but comes with its own unique modern twist.
Taking cues from the Fossil Sundial and Hologram watches from the 1990s, these traits are given a STAPLE twist. Take the brand’s iconic pigeon mascot cut into the sundial’s gnomon so that you can see the fowl in the sundial’s shadow. As the sundial is placed on a locket-style hinge, opening it reveals a hidden hologram on the dial—the pigeon transitioning from its standing position (with the STAPLE logo in the background) to it taking flight. And if you’re wondering, man, I’d love it if this watch has one more STAPLE pigeon, you’re in luck, because there’s another one on the watch’s caseback. BOOM, more fowl for your buck.
To hammer home the point of the Fossil brand and being inspired by the archival pieces, timepieces are housed in an egg-shaped case, y’know, like you’re excavating these from the earth. The watches also come in three terrazzo stone-inspired colourways.
With regards to movement, these run on automatic and its beating heart nests in a 44mm stainless steel case. There are two limited-edition black rPet straps that are interchangeable with the current 22mm straps: one has the STAPLE word logo in white, the other has a repeating pigeon motif.
Fossil x Staple watch retails for SGD489 and the limited-edition straps retail for SGD69 each. They are available here.
