By now, we're all familiar with Apple's annual introduction of its latest tech updates. Every September sees newer incarnations of Apple's devices, including the Apple Watch—a smartwatch that's grown to be quite an integral part of the Apple ecosystem. The Apple Watch Series 5 is the most advanced version yet and packed with updated specs and features. What's even better is the continuation of Apple's partnership with luxury fashion house Hermès, that has resulted in the Apple Watch Hermès Series 5.
In essence, the Apple Watch Hermès Series 5 comes with the same features as its non-Hermès counterpart. But while the latter comes in two case sizes—40mm and 44mm—the former is only available in a 40mm case. And then of course, there's the inclusion of the Hermès leather strap (the double tour is definitely a favourite) and an additional sports band with each purchase.
The Apple Watch Hermès Series 5 is also only available in a stainless steel case as opposed to having the additional option of an aluminium case. And this time, a special iteration of a Space Black stainless steel case is designed to work seamlessly with a matching watch face, as well as a black leather and sports straps. Basically, more luxe for your buck.
With the Apple Watch Hermès Series 5, you get the best of wearable technology and renowned Hermès craftsmanship. That delicious combination will set you back SGD1,979 for the double tour version. But if you're not about to spend that amount for something you would potentially upgrade after a year, here are five other things that that money could go towards.
Horizon white Monogram earphones by Louis Vuitton (SGD1,580 each)

What can't you get from Louis Vuitton? The maison has recently released a series of wireless earphones in collaboration with Master & Dynamic that works across any operating system, is Siri and Google Assistant-enabled, and is designed with Master & Dynamic's tremendous sound quality.
Beoplay A1 speaker by Saint Laurent x Bang & Olufsen (approximately SGD632 each)

Another collaboration between an audio brand and a luxury fashion house, the Saint Laurent x Bang & Olufsen Beoplay A1 speakers are exclusively available at the Saint Laurent Rive Droite boutiques in Paris and Los Angeles. Basically, a Beoplay A1 speaker (small in size but delivers amazing sound) that's as chic as any Saint Laurent fit.
Apple Watch Series 5 by Apple (SGD599 each)

The Apple Watch Series 5, at its bare minimum, costs a third of the Hermès version. Get three of them—one for yourself and the rest for your two loved ones—so at least you'd have two other people you can send annoying Walkie-Talkie audio messages to, and (what is probably the most random function on an Apple Watch) will be (un)willing recipients of a visual representation of your actual heartbeat.
Windsor faux leather 10-piece watch box by WOLF (approximately SGD240 each via Mr Porter)

Because every watch, no matter if they're digital, automatic, manual or even slightly smart, needs a proper home that also doubles up as an elegant display.
Powerstation wireless XL charger by Supreme x Mophie (approximately SGD223 each via Grailed)

A Supreme collaboration that's actually pretty useful, will last for a long while, and is not ridiculously priced in the resale market. This collaboration with Mophie is packed with 10,000 mAH of power (that's about an additional 42 hours of battery life for your devices) and allows for wireless charging too; brilliant.
