At just 18 years old, Billie Eilish is already a bonafide pop star. She's won five Grammys (in the first year that she's nominated), two American Music Awards, two Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, was the People's Choice for 'Female Artist of 2019', and was honoured as one of the 'Women of the Year' for the 2019 edition of Billboard Women in Music—and this is by no means an exhaustive list of Eilish's accomplishments.
Like any true pop icon in the making, Eilish has a distinct style too. In a bid to avoid conversations about her body, Eilish has made a conscious decision to only wear loose, oversized clothing. She's gone through multiple hair colours, but of late, has been sticking to neon green roots set against a black do. Nail art is something that she has most recently been experimenting with—repping the brands that dress her for award shows and events by decorating her nails in iconic monograms or patterns.
It's little wonder then that Eilish's brand of non-conformist aesthetic as well as catchy music and profoundly relatable lyrics, have garnered her a legion of fans across a range of age groups.
One of such fans, includes renowned Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami. Both became friends after they began messaging each other on Instagram, which led to Murakami directing Eilish's music video for her single, 'You Should See Me in a Crown' in 2019. The fully animated music video took Murakami eight months to complete and featured signature stylings from the duo.
Fast forward to over a year later, Murakami and Eilish are back together again for a Uniqlo UT collection. Just like the aforementioned music video, the Billie Eilish x Takashi Murakami UT collection features familiar graphics from both individuals—the 'Blohsh' figure that's signature to Eilish, and Murakami's smiling flowers. Additionally, Eilish has also directed the designs of graphics depicting her name and 'Blohsh', specifically for the UT collection.
The Billie Eilish x Takashi Murakami UT collection spans across men's, women's and kids', with varying selections of T-shirts as well as headgear. And just in case you're wondering, sizes run up to 3XL (only through the Uniqlo online store) so that you can easily achieve the Eilish look like a real stan.
The Billie Eilish x Takashi Murakami UT collection will be available online from 22 June 2020, and in stores from 26 June 2020. Scroll through the gallery above for a complete look at the collection.
