It's almost finally within reach. Since being first spotted down the runway during Dior Men's spring/summer 2020 show back in June, the Dior and RIMOWA Personal case has been one of the most awaited collaborations for this upcoming SS2020 season. Not only does the Dior and RIMOWA Personal case resemble a mini RIMOWA luggage, it's also a rather genius creation that seamlessly ties the craftsmanship of both brands together.
And really, it was about time that RIMOWA expanded its aesthetically pleasing line of luggage into something that we can all carry on the daily.
If there's a caveat (I mean, if you have to be critical), the Dior and RIMOWA Personal case is significantly more expensive than the latter's flagship Trunk Plus—its largest capacity—luggage in aluminium at SGD3,360. But then one has to take into account that Dior, a couture house, has had a hand in this as well. It's also part of a limited capsule collection, so there's that exclusivity factor to consider too; although if RIMOWA knows what's good for them, Dior-less versions should be in the works.
We're guessing by now that the waitlist for the Dior and RIMOWA Personal case is pretty long. But head over to a Dior or RIMOWA boutique to try your luck.
Parting SGD3,360 to add a stylish spring to your entry into 2020 not in the cards? Here are five other ways to treat yourself for all the hard work you've done throughout 2019.
Intrecciato messenger case by Bottega Veneta (SGD3,180 each)
When it comes to luxury fashion and craftsmanship that's on par with Dior, Bottega Veneta's messenger case is a solid alternative; especially if you miss out on getting a Dior and RIMOWA Personal case. The exterior is crafted with leather Intrecciato and is designed with a push clasp closure. And yes, it does remind us of the house's iconic Knot clutch but a tad more masculine.
Aluminium Cabin Plus luggage by Supreme / RIMOWA (approximately SGD2,507 each via StockX)
Missed out on the Supreme / RIMOWA collaboration that was just released a couple of weeks ago? Grab one from StockX. Judging solely on the lowest asking price alone, it's cheaper than the original retail price in Singapore (SGD2,940 for the Cabin Plus).
Vinyl reflective pouch by Bao Bao Issey Miyake (approximately SGD1,045 each via SSENSE)
Bao Bao Issey Miyake gets on the small bags trend with a reflective version that you can either wear as a crossbody or around the neck à la Jacquemus. No matter how you wear one, it'll definitely be a nifty addition to your arsenal of small, functional bags.
Silk Petit h pouch by Hermès (SGD470 each)
Crafted from Hermès leftover materials, this Petit h pouch is also reversible. And because each piece is made from silk that's leftover from the house's main products, the chances of having another that's identical is quite unlikely.
Silver money clip by Mulberry (approximately SGD120 via Mr Porter)
If you're bent on the Dior and RIMOWA Personal case, a money clip is probably the best way of getting your cash organised and in order. Trust us, you'd need the space for the other things you'd be filling your new purchase.
