The beach. In our part of the world, the thought of it would conjure images of Hawaiian-print camp collar shirts, sensible shorts, and sunglasses—less clothes, and more sun protection. Anything longer than a pair of swim shorts? Forget about it.
But in Brighton, the seaside resort in the southeast of England, the beach is pebbled, the air is cool, and the water icy to the touch.
For the June/July 2019 'Freaks & Geeks' issue, photographer Justin Campbell and stylist Luca Falcioni escaped to Brighton to envision an approach to beach-appropriate style that is different from our own sunny shores. T-shirts are traded in for comfy short-sleeved knits, sunglasses are fashion-skinny and in avant-garde silhouettes, and sun protection comes in the form of skin-covering tracksuits and outerwear.
Quirky, poetic and fashionable ensembles pulled from the season's best runways.
