Collaborations are a huge part of Gentle Monster. The Korean eyewear brand has collaborated with the likes of Tilda Swinton, Hood by Air, Fendi, and earlier this year, with Jennie Kim of K-pop band Blackpink. Adding another K-pop phenom to its 2020 repertoire, Gentle Monster has released a collection with Kris Wu.
Dubbed 'GENTLE WU', the eight-piece collaboration first made its official debut on the Alibaba-owned platform T-Mall on 17 June before being released on Gentle Monster on 25 June. GENTLE WU is what one would normally expect of Gentle Monster—a futuristic slant of stylish frames combined with Wu's penchant for bold details and glamour. In four different silhouettes, GENTLE WU ranges from the pared back GW004—a flat-framed piece that's available in all-black or a summer-ready pink ombre lens—to the more outstanding wraparound GW001 that Wu sports in the image above.
But that's not all. In celebration of GENTLE WU's launch, Gentle Monster is unveiling an event in Shanghai and calling it 'THE ROLLER PROJECT'. While little is known about what 'THE ROLLER PROJECT' is all about, the brand is kicking things off with a social media activation where entrants stand to win limited-edition GENTLE WU exclusives that are not part of the main collaboration. These pieces include two additional variations of the GW001 and GW004 in pink and highlighter yellow respectively, as well as a pair of GENTLE WU gloves (that comes with a specially designed GENTLE WU ring) and a chest rig.
All one needs to do to enter, is to share any post from Gentle Monster's Instagram account that relates to the GENTLE WU campaign with the hashtag #GENTLEWU. The pre-event officially starts from 3o June so get cracking.
