The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards was historic for a couple of reasons. 18-year-old Billie Eilish swept up five awards out of six nominations, including wins for 'Best New Artist', 'Album of the Year', 'Record of the Year' and 'Song of the Year', making her the youngest and the first female to win all four major awards in one night.
The award show was also held hours after news of basketball legend Kobe Bryant's fatal crash, with the Staples Center (where the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards was held) the venue where Bryant spent most of his NBA career. Tributes during the show included a last-minute performance by host Alicia Keys and Boyz II Men, as well as Bryant's jerseys appearing in a number of live performances.
On the red carpet, the fashion was joyous. The men opted for mostly anything but black—Finneas led with a printed Gucci tuxedo, Shawn Mendes' now-signature look was punctuated in berry, Beck shimmered in CELINE, and Jonas Brothers turned up in earthy tones courtesy of Ermenegildo Zegna.
But true to form, Billy Porter took to the red carpet in another gender-breaking custom outfit that was topped off with a fringed, wide-brimmed top hat. And if that wasn't already enough, the hat was designed with a mechanism that allowed for the fringes to fully swathe his face or open up. Stellar.
