Following the return of the relatively normal 94th Academy Awards last week, the Grammys too made a similar pre-Covid comeback. While the event was pushed back from its original 31 January 2022 schedule (due to health concerns about the Omnicron variant), there certainly was no issue when it came a rather stellar line-up of performers and presenters.
South Korean group BTS once again took to the stage to perform 'Butter', Olivia Rodrigo (the night's three-time Grammy winner) sang her 'Best Pop Solo Performance' song, 'Drivers License', and Lady Gaga performed a tribute to Tony Bennett. And while presenting the award for 'Best New Artist', Dua Lip and Megan Thee Stallion recreated a famed interaction between Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston—a scripted 'who wore it best' moment with the assistance of Donatella Versace.
But perhaps the most noteworthy moment of the night—and one that didn't come with any form of physical assault—came from Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. In a pre-taped message that aired before a performance of 'Free' by John Legend, Siuzanna Iglidan, Mika Newton, and poet Lyuba Yakimchuk, Zelensky spoke about the devastation of the current Russian-Ukraine war and appealed for support in any shape or form.
Before all that, the red carpet continued to show the kind of diverse menswear stylings that we've seen on the Oscars red carpet. There were the classic tailoring as seen on host Trevor Noah, Diplo, and Kid Laroi, but also fashion-forward suiting as perfectly exemplified by BTS's custom Louis Vuitton fits.
Scroll through below for our picks of the menswear looks that mattered on the red carpet of the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
