We can't say this enough (and we're certainly not the only ones): Harry Styles is a fashion force to be reckoned with. Not only does he have a flair for breaking down gender stereotypes when it comes to dressing (he's as comfortable wearing lace and pussy bows as he is in a suit), he's also got a knack for wearing off-kilter pieces that people would want to have.

Most recently, his appearance at The Today Show in February made a resurgence but not for the music. Styles took to the stage during a soundcheck wearing an oversized, chunky patchwork cardigan by JW Anderson. The spring/summer 2020 runway piece was one of the key design tropes for the brand that season, such that the combination and technique were applied to a few other pieces in the collection. Fans—quite possibly due to having more spare time while staying home—have been taking to TikTok and uploading their homemade versions of the cardigan. And caught the attention of the designer.
Unfortunately, the wool patchwork cardigan by JW Anderson is now sold out. You can try your luck finding one on the resale market, but with such a popular piece that's now made even more popular, it'll be a tough task. And for SGD2,715, it's quite an investment too; it's a beautifully made piece, after all.
If this has perhaps made you want to add some patchwork into your life, here are five other ways to spend that money.
Cotton patchwork jacket, by Loewe (SGD1,550 each)

We're not kidding when we say that Jonathan Anderson is obsessed with patchwork. For his work with Loewe, the fashion designer too employs the technique in a myriad of styles and variations. This jacket that's part of the Paula's Ibiza collection, features panels of archival fabrics that turn an otherwise normal denim jacket into one that's worth investing in.
Nylon and polyester sneakers, by Dolce&Gabbana (SGD970 each)

Sure, these sneakers are technically not a patchwork of different patterns. But they are a combination of contrasting materials and colours that, quite oddly, are rather aesthetically pleasing together. They're also not the usual Dolce&Gabbana offering—if loud and laden with prints are not your style—yet still not subtle in any way.
Cotton patchwork jumper, by Kapital (approximately SGD793 each via Mr Porter)
This Kapital jumper makes walking away from anything and everything much more satisfying. The details are located at the back, made up of squares of washed fabrics that are then topstitched with a quilting technique. Simply beautiful.
19th-century Victorian patchwork cushion, by By Walid (approximately SGD535 each via MATCHESFASHION)

Another designer whose work often deals with making patchworks of different fabrics is Walid al Damirji of By Walid. His growing home collection celebrates the technique. In this case, a cushion crafted out of antique fabrics for that crafty touch to a home; even if you didn't make it yourself.
Pure wool yarn, by Heirloom (SGD5.60 each via Spotlight)

If you're still hung up on the JW Anderson cardigan, it's time to get on the knitting bandwagon and make your very own. With 484 balls of yarn, you could probably get about 80 cardigans. Keep one for yourself and sell the rest to Harry Styles fanatics over on Etsy for some profits.
