EXO's Kai is no stranger to Gucci, having been the fashion house's global ambassador (a first for any Korean) since 2019. But even before that, he's been a constant fixture at Gucci's fashion shows and dressed in some of the fashion house's more editorial looks. Without a doubt, the K-pop powerhouse has consistently pulled them off.
Now, that relationship has taken a step further, with another first under Kai's belt.
Kai x Gucci is a capsule collection designed by creative director Alessandro Michele and one that's inspired by Kai himself. This marks the first time that a Gucci capsule collection has been specifically designed around a Korean celebrity. The teddy bear has been chosen as a central motif of Kai x Gucci—both as a reference to childhood as well as a nod to a symbol that Kai is also a fan of. In other words, it's a coming together of two cultural icons.
The teddy bear in Kai x Gucci has been interpreted as a blue bow-tie wearing motif spanning a select assortment of ready-to-wear, shoes, bags and small accessories. It becomes part of the GG pattern on a jacquard jumper, while on the fashion house's Rhyton sneakers, the teddy bear replaces the GG logo. Whatever you pick, it'll definitely be undeniably Gucci with a healthy dose of adorable for good measure.
The Kai x Gucci capsule collection launches 17 April 2021 exclusively at Gucci's ION Orchard boutique.
