The French bistro welcome its third establishment in the heart of town, going all out with the tropical motifs—suspended vines, mahogany earth tones, and rattan ceilings handwoven specially for the store. Next to a new menu, you can also look forward to the 80 unique brands to shop from.
Like the vintage Singaporean bungalows you find on the outskirts, design is inspired by '50s Bauhaus architecture and local heritage. Like any good 21st century cafe, you have to have your iconic insta-spot. In this new outlet, we'd say its the over 1000 glowing bottles of French Rosé in the lounge.
That's not to throw shade on the other walls, which are well-adorned with murals from French artist Tiphaine Sartini paying tribute to the later works of another French artist; some dude celebrating 150th anniversary this year called Henri Matisse.
Among the new dishes are a few signatures getting their own spin in this outlet, including the Tarte Flambée with ample reblonchon cheese and smoked duck breast slices atop its thin-rolled, oven-baked bread dough; and the Ravioles de Royans, Palais, where the French dumpling pasta is served with frothy foie gras emulsion, foie gras chunks and indulgent Tête de Moine cheese. Desserts are not left out with a Werther's Originals candy-made Crème Brûlée, and the tiramisu emulsion Crêpe Marcel amongst a rotating selection of flavours.
With a space dedicated to the extensive product catalogue and some of its own merchandise like the quirky Seletti World monkey and banana lamps, you have pieces from all over the world. Umasqu brings in wall décor mask art from Israel. There's handcrafted ceramics Bouchra Boudoua from Morocco, handmade cushions made by Paris-based CSAO in Japanese Wabi-Sabi tradition in African prints.
