It’s that time of the year again where the idea of summer escapes to the white, sandy beaches of far-flung tropical islands surrounded by clear blue waters, come to mind. Summer is out in full swing albeit in different capacities this time around.
But as they say: “When life gives you lemons…”
Enter Mr Porter and its always extensive capsule collections. In what probably is its more casual capsule collection thus far, Mr Porter has collaborated with 15 brands to curate a collection of 171 exclusive pieces themed around surf culture. ‘Gone Surfin’’ comprises of items by surf-inspired brands the likes of Pilgrim Surf + Supply, Saturdays NYC, Noon Goons, Outerknown and Miansai, but are not restricted to just casual clothing and accessories.
Because surfing isn’t only about tie-dye clothes as well as performance-driven and stylish board shorts, ‘Gone Surfin’’ includes a selection of natural skincare products by Salt & Stone—sunblocks, lip balms and deodorants. And to complete the all-encompassing surfing set, a cookbook by surf legend Laird Hamilton, Fuel Up.
’Gone Surfin’’ is no alternative to an actual beach getaway. But at the very least, the curation by Mr Porter is an easy way to integrate some casual pieces into your wardrobe while you’re spending time working from home (trade your usual sweatpants for a tie-dye version by James Perse), or taking a stroll by the beach and observing social distancing in a Reyn Spooner camp-collar shirt and Outerknown organic cotton shorts.
Travel is a state of mind, no?
