British actor Taron Egerton is poised to make an award-winning performance with his lead role as legendary singer-songwriter (and unapologetically fabulous dresser) Elton John, in the latter's biopic Rocketman. It's difficult to think of Elton John and not picture sequinned stage costumes, incredibly ornate headgear, and feathers. Lots of feathers. The man has produced just as many iconic style moments as he did songs.
But let's face it, there are not a lot of us with the confidence and personality to pull off an Elton John. In the world of Rocketman, most of us are more suited to the subtle stylings of the star's former manager (and ex-lover) John Reid.
Portrayed by Golden Globe winner Richard Madden, John Reid is the antithesis to Elton's over-the-top dressing. Reid is classy, cool, and always clad in a suit. Well, someone has to be the serious, managerial type in this partnership, right?
In celebration of Rocketman and as a continuation of its 'costume to collection' collaborations, Mr Porter releases 'Rocketman by Kingsman'. This 16-piece collection is part of the brand's Kingsman tailoring line that has previously produced similar collections in tandem with the releases of the films Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Both films were written, directed and produced by Matthew Vaughn, who also serves as producer for Rocketman.
'Rocketman by Kingsman' focuses heavily on tailoring, with two sets of suits and a velvet tuxedo jacket anchoring the collection. They can be easily paired with the tight edit of shirts by Turnbull & Asser, as well as an assortment of ties. Key to the collection is a pair of Chelsea boots by Kingsman + George Cleverley; a pair that would go well with almost anything in your wardrobe.
For those looking to embody Elton John, there's always the Gucci section on Mr Porter.
The 'Rocketman by Kingsman' collection will be exclusively available on Mr Porter from 29 May 2019 onwards. View the complete collection in the gallery above.
