If there's one thing that we can count on the Oscars (or formally, the Academy Awards) to do, it's to provide a level of style and glamour that only an event of its stature can. Pandemic or not, the 2021 Oscars managed to still deliver on that front.
While the award show has often been criticised for being "white" (#OscarsSoWhite), it seems like the 93rd edition of the Academy Awards had the most diverse list of nominees yet. 'Best Actor' nominees included Riz Ahmed, Chadwick Boseman, and Steven Yuen, with Viola Davis and Andra Day up for 'Best Actress'. The same could be said for the other categories, which saw a range of talent that were more representative of the industry in Hollywood and beyond. And most importantly, deservedly so.
That also meant that on the red carpet, it was a diverse spectrum of individuals putting their best style foot forward. The always sleek-looking Riz Ahmed opted for a fuss-free Prada ensemble, substituting the traditional white shirt for a streamlined mock-neck T-shirt. LaKeith Stanfield forwent the go-to tuxedo and instead chose a sartorially charged look by Saint Laurent. And then, there's the rising style star and actor Alan S. Kim who's been showing up in the most dapper Thom Browne looks.
