I bought a pair of headphones recently. They sound good, the noise cancelling's impressive, a handsfree experience is always welcomed—but something was missing. I couldn't bring them for a workout. In our godforsaken climate, headphones outdoors alone is not the brightest idea, unless you've got a thing for damp ears. Every existing bluetooth sport earphones comes with either a wire connecting the pair (which seems really purpose defeating if you ask me) or little buds that could fall off if you don't jam them down your ear canal. And then we have Powerbeats Pro.
They don't budge
While tricky to put on initially, the malleable hooks fit the ear shape and are designed to not fall off (we tried head-banging with them). Sweat and water resistance almost seems like a given for workout gear, but the weight of it is the great plus. We wouldn't call it 'so light you can't feel them', but we can safely trade out 'can't' for 'barely'.
The battery lasts forever
In terms of bluetooth devices, Powerbeats Pro seem to last a lifetime. You're probably not going to listen to music an entire day straight, but that's what Apple ensures with nine hours on the pair, and over 24 on the charging case (hence, the size). So if you're working on a marathon, there's really no more reason to hesitate.
Navigation is easy
Powerbeats Pro requires a USB-A charging cable, but is completely compatible with android and is said to perform just as well by other reviewers. You get the standard idiot-proof connectivity for Apple, and Siri functions without having to reach for the phone. Otherwise, call/play and volume buttons are seamlessly embedded in the both left and right pieces.
If your comparison base is Apple's other contender (given all the murmur about AirPods 2), sounds have much more definition with Powerbeats Pro. There isn't much noise isolation, but the heftier music quality has the upper hand on the predecessor.
Great for when you have earphones on and people still don't get the hint, beats also automatically pause when you remove either of them from your ear. Finally, it's open to disagreement but the Powerbeats Pro beats the AirPods aesthetically by a mile.
