No one can deny how much RIMOWA is killing it in the luxury travel space in the past year or so. Since being acquired by LVMH and then a revamp of its brand identity, RIMOWA has been taking active steps in drumming up excitement. There were limited-edition collaborations with brands the likes of Fendi, Off-White and Supreme, an offering of seasonal colours to its lightweight polycarbonate series, and a campaign that's not solely focused on product.
And of course, there's the highly anticipated collaboration with Dior Men that will see RIMOWA delve into fashion accessories. (Drop by a RIMOWA boutique to put your name on the waitlist if you intend on scoring a piece of the collection).
In its essence is the RIMOWA Original in aluminium—a piece of luxury that's distinct, iconic and a hallmark of the brand's craftsmanship. Now the trio of classic colours—titanium, black, and silver—gets a jolt of freshness with two bold additions inspired by two exotic locations.
The rich blue of Marine (it's such a pigmented blue that's pretty much the definition of 'blue'), is referenced from the legendary vastness of the Mediterranean waters. Scarlet, on the other hand, reminds us of a toned-down iteration of the collaboration with Supreme. Its red tone is taken from that of the Scarlet Ibis, a native bird of the Los Llanos region to the east of the Andes in Colombia and Venezuela. Save for the wheels and the telescopic handle, both colours encase the entirety of the luggages for that seamless, monochromatic look.
The Marine and Scarlet editions of the aluminium RIMOWA Original are only available in the Cabin (SGD1,500), Check-In L (SGD1,950) and Trunk Plus (SGD2,530) sizes. Quantities worldwide are limited too, so be sure to get a hold of one, especially if you've been waiting for a fresh update to this classic piece.
The new RIMOWA Original colours are now available in all RIMOWA boutiques.
