We can't say that we were expecting this. Saint Laurent has recently released a series of condoms (wrapped in sleek packaging, of course) that are exclusive to its Saint Laurent Rive Droite boutique in Paris. Which means, if you're not based in Paris, getting even one Saint Laurent condom would require asking a favour from a friend.
In occasion of the launch of the Saint Laurent-branded condoms, the fashion house also released a campaign image. Titled 'The Love Affair', the image shot by Juergen Teller features models Anja Rubik in the house's classic le smoking, and a naked David Alexander Finn.
As an image, it is rather refreshing for a fashion house to turn the tables and not play to the male gaze; especially when the product that's in question is as gender-specific as condoms.
These are definitely not the priciest Saint Laurent item out there. At approximately SGD3 per piece, it's not that extravagant when you think about it. But having said that, there's no added craftsmanship behind the rubber; a condom is a condom. It might be an impressive pack to take out and rip open with your teeth though.
