It's no secret that the world is ending, but Vans makes it a little less bleak. Admit it, we could all use some distraction-shopping, and in a WFH climate where pyjamas are corporate attire, creative t-shirts too. The pop of colour spreads through a series of Vans Classic footwear silhouettes, apparel and accessories in collaboration with 15 Asian artists.
The artists include Cheung Yik Lui, Duyanaizi, FEELDOG, Hororoworld, Jiayi Sun, Lickpalik, Lydia Yang, Mooncasket, Nichinichi, Ohamking, Panda Mei, Tyakasha, Wang Zijing, Wesker Zhan and Whang OD.
“If we keep things in perspective and don’t dwell on the situation, we will not only feel better, but also set ourselves up for a more positive life moving forward,” said Hong Kong based artist, Mooncasket. In the current environment of collective social distancing, each artist explored their ways to remain creative and shared their feelings with everyone.
So it's not just unique cultural experiences in the individual capsule collections of the Off The Wall Art Class of 2020, but a shared hope in these times. “I watched the way Vans interacts with consumers as a brand and how they represent their unique culture, these gave me a sense of their passion.” said Seoul based artist FEELDOG, “It’s fine to encounter failure and frustrations, but the most important thing is to keep pushing and consistently move forward, same as a skateboarder who never stops trying to perfect new tricks.”
The full Off The Wall Art Collection and each of the artists inspirations is now available on vans.com.
