Silence. It's often calming. Somewhat soothing, like a silent reverie. And at times, much needed. Yet, at the same time, it can be suspenseful; a precursor to an eerie encounter.
The question really is: do we ever truly know what lies beneath every silence, speech or expression?
For the October 2019 'Peace of Mind' issue, we travelled to Mumbai, India. Amidst the vibrant chaos of the city is Soho House Mumbai, a haven for individuals across a variety of creative industries, and one where comfort is at the heart of its existence (it's implied in the name, after all).
Together with Mumbai-based photographer Bikramjit Bose, we played on the idea that nothing is quite as it seems to be. Within the expansive walls of Soho House Mumbai, there seems to be something that is taunting the model.
Who is it? What does it want? And why is it after him? Or is there anything to be concerned about in the first place? Could it be that this is just a figment of his overactive imagination? The mind is a powerful thing.
What's the truth? We'll never truly know…
