You might need to settle your behinds down for this. Tom Ford's debut line of men's underwear will be available by the end of November this year. It's shocking right? Not so much that we still have to wait for at least three more months before getting a pair of Tom Ford underwear; this is Tom Ford's first ever underwear collection for men. You'd think that the man behind some of the most sexual imageries in fashion (and movies), would already be selling mounds and mounds of sexy underwear that's branded with his name.
We first saw the line at Tom Ford's autumn/winter runway show during New York Fashion Week: Men's. At the end of a collection of metallic sheen and animal prints-heavy ready-to-wear, models clad in just a pair of socks, underwear and a watch, walked in succession. It was also the debut of Tom Ford's new timepiece collection—quite a clever coincidence that they were positioned at the same level as the underwear as the models walked out—but the emphasis and talk was definitely around the underwear.
There's a clear sense of thought that went into the line. The nude range is not just one definition of 'nude'. There are seven different shades of nude, to suit at least a wider range of skin tones than the traditional beige tone that the term often passes off as. The nude range is designed in cotton stretch jersey, cotton, and silk fabrications. But if you're a believer in not skimping out on style and fashion in the undergarment department, the fashion range includes both animal prints and metallic shades in cotton stretch jersey and silk. Styles available across both categories (in order of support and comfort) are trunks, briefs, short boxers and boxers; all topped with a Tom Ford branded waistband in velvet. What else could be more luxurious and sexy?
The Tom Ford men's underwear collection will be available in stores at the end of November, and priced from SGD85 for the nude range and from SGD184 for the printed range.
