Films are a big deal. And when it comes to film festivals, the Venice International Film Festival (or in Italian: Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica della Biennale di Venezia) is the oldest of the big three film festivals that are held annually. The other two of course, is the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival.
At this year's edition of the Venice International Film Festival, a total of 21 films are up for the Venezia 76 competition. The films will make their world premieres during the film festival, and include highly awaited films such as Todd Phillips' Joker, The Laundromat starring Meryl Streep and Gary Oldman, and James Gray's Ad Astra which stars Brad Pitt. Aside from these films, a great number of other films will also make their debut out of competition, as well as for competition in other categories. These include Netflix's The King, which will see Timothée Chalamet taking on the titular role, as well as The Burnt Orange Heresy, a thriller based on the book of the same name.
Basically, the Venice International Film Festival one of the fashion weeks of film. But instead of waiting for six months for each film to be officially screened in theatres worldwide, the releases are usually just months apart.
With so many film premieres throughout the 11-day event, the red carpet is laid out for the actors, filmmakers and the executives. But let's face it, we're here for the cast and what fashion they're bringing to the red carpet.
