It's hard to miss—Louis Vuitton's Island Maison at Marina Bay Sands has been completely lit up rainbow hues. The spectacle is in celebration of Virgil Abloh's debut collection for the luxury fashion house. If you need a reminder of the historic spring/summer 2019 (the first ever collection designed by an African-American for Louis Vuitton) runway show that was held at Palais-Royal in Paris last year, watch it below.
The rainbow façade of Louis Vuitton Island Maison echoes Abloh's entire colourful spectrum of clothes that were shown down a rainbow runway. And just like the old adage of there being 'treasure at the end of the rainbow', for ardent fans of Abloh and those who have been eagerly anticipating the brightly-hued clothes as well as the updated Louis Vuitton classics being given Abloh's touch, the 'treasure' is the spring/summer 2019 menswear collection contained within.
Step inside and you'll find yourself transported to the fictional land of Oz—complete with the oft-referenced yellow brick road. Lined along its length are some of the key pieces for the collection, including bags and accessories that we're guessing would be the first few items to sell out. Because such is the power and draw of Virgil Abloh.
