It's already been almost five years since creative director Alessandro Michele revamped and revitalised Gucci. And for 27 runway shows, Michele's maximalist vision has only grown stronger. There's a lot to see during a Gucci runway show now—the over-the-top styling, the incredibly wide spectrum of prints and colours, and product after product after product, each one different from the next.
With the constant bombardment of frills, prints and sparkles, it could be said that a Gucci collection is more of the same. Yet, look closer and you'd notice the subtle differences and tweaks that Michele brings to each new collection. It's in the slight change in the fit, the addition of a new visual vocabulary, or even the sudden inclusion of something as familiar as a fairytale character. It might be a consistent aesthetic, but it's always peppered with something fresh.
