Kenzo is doing things a bit differently for autumn/winter 2021. While creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista's spring/summer 2021 runway show seemed like a foreshadowing of a world stricken by a pandemic—protective and exaggerated beekeeper's hats galore—it was however, all conceived before COVID-19 was made known to the world. Now that we're still dealing with the pandemic, Baptista has opted for a fashion film to present the autumn/winter 2021 collection.
Called Kenzo Always, the Kenzo autumn/winter 2021 fashion film could perhaps be an ode to the late founder of the brand, Kenzo Takada. The fashion designer passed away in Paris due to complications from COVID-19 back in October 2020.
Not much has been revealed about the film, except that Baptista has tasked Berlin-based electronic musician Planningtorock to create an exclusive track for the film that they're calling '#planningtoKenzo'. And just from the teasers of the track on social media alone, Kenzo Always is set to be a joyous celebration. In the meantime, Baptista has curated a Spotify playlist in conjunction with the film.
