With less than a week to go, Valentine’s day is fast approaching. And soon, social media pages will be filled with sappy posts, all restaurants and bars will be fully booked and couples will be exchanging thoughtful, romantic but, let’s face it, often predictable gifts. I mean it makes sense, girls are notoriously hard to please when it comes to buying gifts and often already have everything they could want.
But making gift giving for the girl who already has the latest and greatest of everything considerably easier is Hermès, with the launch of a new métier—Hermès Beauty—a lifestyle aesthetic that every woman will take pleasure in.
Created as an expression of both the beauty of Hermès and the house’s vision of beauty, Hermès Beauty took shape through the dialogue between different métiers and is a collaboration created by Bali Barret, Pierre Hardy and Jérôme Touron.
Although beauty might appear an unexpected move for Hermès, the collection shares the same function as a leather good or silk scarf—that is, to enhance the everyday. And, as with all Hermès items, each piece in the Rouge Hermès collection aims to be an experience through the senses.
Developed not to improve aesthetic beauty, but to improve a woman or man's well-being—yes, a guy can wear lipstick too—Hermès beauty is not about appearance, but about internal well-being.
A collection devoted to the beauty of the lips, Rouge Hermès combines colour, finish and packaging within its extensive collection—which also includes a lip care balm (SGD103), universal lip pencil (SGD57), Poppy lip shine (SGD103) and a lip brush (SGD120)—to enhance your everyday self.
First introduced in 1925 by Emile Hermès is the colour 'rouge Hermès'. It's a shade not quite purple, not quite burgundy and not quite brown, which now encapsulates the palette of Rouge Hermès. Giving women the colour red in 24—a number which pays homage it's iconic Parisian address—flattering hues (all priced at SGD103). And as Hermès Beauty centres around sustainability, each Rouge Hermès lipstick holder, with its beautifully modern and colour-blocked design, is also refillable.
As an object for the senses, for the eyes and for its feel on the lips, lipsticks are available in two finishes: matte and satin, with both inspired by different finishes of leather. Matte reflects the powdery feel of Doblis suede, and Satin the smoothness of calfskin.
Hermès Beauty leather accessories
The collection also comes with a new line of small leather Hermès beauty accessories created by the maison’s designers and artisans. Yes, new leather accessories. Because beauty products need a beautiful cover. Why, of course.
There will be a lipstick case with an integrated mirror, a pop-up lipstick case, as well as a moon-shaped mirror on a cord—all in Madame calfskin leather. Well played, Hermès. Well played.
Rouge Hermès will be available from 4 March 2020 at Hermès stores islandwide.
