It's not by accident that a bar perched on the roof of a conserved heritage shophouse in Tras Street, is christened Levant.
The name is fitting in ways that transcend its aptness: It serves up a palette-defying array of Mediterranean-inspired mezze plates and bespoke cocktails that criss-crosses its eponymous geography while doubling down on a savouriness that is as multi-dimensional as it is undeniable. Sumptuous, heady and sensual, the ilLido Group’s latest venue is the perfect hideaway in the eye of the CBD hive, an embracing idyll for the senses and the mind.
Whether as a date spot, an after-work hang, a picturesque setting for an intimate tête-à-tête, a raucous night out with the full squad, or a staging ground for some exquisite me-time, whether you’re looking to blend into the night incognito or make your mark on it in the loudest and proudest ways, Levant is a bona fide vibe-elevator. Soundtracked as it is by music precision engineered for chill, and overlooking the surrounding cityscape from its Tras Street outpost, it’s a celebration of tangibility – of the pleasures of good food, good drinks, good company and good times.

But for a place that has so much to soak in, so much to experience, Levant’s approach to its menu is anything but cosmetic. What goes on your plate and what flows in your glass is taken very seriously here. Plates big and small are treated with the same defining gravity. As in the Sharing Platter, which packs Chicken Skewers, Smoky Baba Ganoush, Beef Kofta Sliders and French Fries into an irresistible payload. Following suit are the hot and cold mezze plates, each of which contain spectrum-blasting options such as Crispy Deep Sea Jumbo Prawns, Baked Cheese, Pomegranate Molasses, Pumpkin Seed Dukkah and Pita Bread, and Peppers Muhammara and Smoky Baba Ganoush.

When it comes to tipples, the range is no less resplendent and watering hole-worthy. Enjoy draft beers, spirits and wines from $12 and 1-for-1 Botanist Gin at $18 until 8pm from Sunday to Thursday. Get transported to the teeming sensorial depths of the Mediterranean with the house’s selection of bespoke cocktails – a selection that includes palette-kissers such as the robustly whisky-forward Bittersweet Tale, the exquisitely refreshing tequila-guided trip Sea of Citrus, as well as the spellbinding Moondust, a vodka-centric affair infused with Moroccan almonds, spiced with Mediterranean pistachio bitters and topped with gold dust.

Yet, the gifts keep coming: Levant has a slew of weekly promotions that ensure its offerings are as wallet-friendly as they are scrumptious. If you’re starting the week early – and right – on Margarita Monday, savour a selection of frozen margaritas at $16 per glass, or $28 for two. On Tuesday, Paradisco Tuesday brings choice ‘70s cocktails to you at $18 per glass to the tune of funk and disco. On Wednesdays, when Life Is Pink, Levant celebrates the ladies, all of whom will enjoy 20% off their total bill, while on Whisky Thursdays, cups of the good stuff runneth over as bottles of Glenfiddich and Balvenie Doublewood go for $150 and $208 respectively.
A generous, gorgeous oasis in the middle of the city – it’s not a dream, it’s Levant.
Levant is at 32 Tras St, ST Signature Hotel, Level 4, Singapore 078972.
