The latest scent from local perfumery, SIX, is Eclat. Not only is it an essence that is years in the making, it is also a show of appreciation. About two years ago, Jason Lee, the founder of SIX, started his company and now he celebrates his achievement with the limited-edition Eclat. Other labels market 'masculinity' or 'debonair', Lee just wants his balm to reflect ‘hope, grace and gratitude’.
'Hope' starts high with neroli and grapefruit with hints of marine notes. Its heart is a Fuji apple, 'grace'. And finally, 'gratitude' is the comforting cocoa and vanilla notes. This scent is secured through Lee’s partnership with renowned Swiss-based fragrance house, Givaudan, with ingredients that are handpicked sustainably from around the world. 'Hope, grace and gratitude’… these concepts might be a little too frou-frou for a cynical world such as ours, but it really is a marvel if you think about it. A year, let alone two, is a long time, but that time is long enough to see start-ups succeed or fail; to see ideas either flourish or die even before they can be acted upon. But the lottery win of just being alive—and to see all these come to fruition—that is a miracle by itself.
