On a wet Thursday evening, Capitol Theatre was packed with revellers, waiting for the announcement of this year's list of Asia’s 50 Best Bars. While Asia's 50 Best Bars list is in its third year, yesterevening was the inaugural awards ceremony.
While drinks were a-flowing and cheers were raised and made, the night saw Singapore and China deadlocked at 12 bars each on the list. But Singapore nudged ahead with Manhattan Bar retaining its top spot for its second consecutive year.
The other Singapore bars on the list include Atlas (4th place); Tippling Club (7th place), Native (8th place), 28 HongKong Street (12th place), Operation Dagger (19th place), Gibson (22nd place), Employees Only (23rd place), D.bespoke (32nd place), Nutmeg & Clove (33rd place), Jigger & Pony (42nd place) and The Other Room (50th place).
Vijay Mudaliar, Native’s Head Bartender, is also the recipient of the Altos Bartenders’ Bartender award for being the most bartenderiest and for his contribution to the industry over the last year.
