It seems that the French maison has been taking grooming notes from the gents over at South Korea. Chanel Beauty is releasing its first ever cosmetic line for men, Boy de Chanel, with a trio of makeup staples— a foundation, a lip balm and an eyebrow pencil—echoing their unflinching sentiments on beauty not being exclusive for the fairer sex. Liberated from the shackles of traditional masculinity and the Marlboro Man stereotypes, Chanel is banking on the modern man being confident enough to take charge of his own appearance.
Keeping with the minimalist design of Bleu de Chanel, all the products boast the iconic midnight blue packaging and the classic Chanel font in white. The star of the show is perhaps the foundation, Le Teint, that comes in four shades. The fluid tint is said to have a sun protection factor of SPF 25 that dries down to a natural, luminous finish, blurring out imperfection while keeping your skin fresh and hydrated throughout the day.
The Le Baume Lèvres is a twist-up lip balm that contains jojoba oil, shea butter and a Vitamin E derivative that nourishes, protects and hydrates the lips for up to eight hours—and without the shine.
A well-groomed brow can do wonders for the face. And a trusty eyebrow pencil can fill in those sparse hairs for you. The Le Stylo Sourcils is said to apply smoothly and easily while lasting up to eight hours due to its waxy waterproof formula. The pencils also come in four shades: light brown, grey, dark brown and black, along with an angled tip for swift and precise application. There is also a handy screw brush to blend out harsh lines and tame those unruly hairs.
The range will make its debut in South Korea (as expected) in September 2018, followed by the House’s online site in November 2018, before hitting all Chanel boutiques starting from January 2019.
