H&M is following up last year’s floral-heavy ERDEM x H&M collaboration with the kitschiest luxury brand there is—Moschino. The confirmation was announced just this Coachella weekend with the help of Moschino’s creative director Jeremy Scott, and model Gigi Hadid—both dressed in MOSCHINO [tv] H&M—via Instagram Live.
Jeremy Scott is no stranger to the art of collaborations. He’s worked on everything, including makeup, and even made UGG boots slightly more palatable. But Scott's most prolific collaboration to date and probably ones that sneakerheads are thoroughly familiar with, are his winged creations for Adidas. As creative director of Moschino, his brand of irreverence and fun has created quirky collections that often play on themes of commercialism and pop culture. Or as he puts it in an interview with H&M: “it’s humour meets haute couture meets the street.”
The MOSCHINO [tv] H&M collection will consist of womenswear, menswear, a full range of accessories and “some extra surprises”. Scott has mentioned that the collaboration pieces will have nods to earlier Moschino designs because he wants it to “feel like a greatest hits collection”. But he maintains that MOSCHINO [tv] H&M will still be a specially created collection that is fresh. And from what we can gather from the first look he debuted as part of the announcement—a black tracksuit printed with trompe l’œil gold chains—there will definitely be some form of newness imbued into the collection. But always with that same tongue-in-cheek perspective.
The MOSCHINO [tv] H&M collection will be available on hm.com and in select H&M stores worldwide on 8 November 2018.
