Starting this Saturday, over 100 Singapore-made titles across films and TV series would progressively be released on Netflix. Classics from the award-winning Ilo Ilo and nostalgia-inducing 881 to the familiar family-centric Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd and Under One Roof.
We're obviously looking forward to The Unbeatables to see if it's as we remembered it, and The Noose to recap on all the issues we were then plagued with back when times were …precedented. These additions join existing local titles Shirkers and the recent supernatural horror Revenge of the Pontianak, as well as a selection of dramas like The Little Nonya.
"I’m always heartened by opportunities to introduce my work to new audiences. It’s been seven years after the first release of llo Ilo and I hope the film will continue to touch the hearts of audiences in Singapore and across the region, especially if they are seeing it for the first time," said Anthony Chen, Director of Ilo Ilo.
In time for National Day, both upcoming and current movies and series will be housed under Singapore, Now Streaming (search SG Now Streaming) for easy access. Other viewing lists include Set In Singapore, which include global shows that feature our humble city, amongst a variety of Singlish puns of Netflix category rows for a limited time.
Netflix Singapore has partnered with local studios Clover Films, Mediacorp, MM2 Entertainment and Memento Films for this venture.
Singapore, Now Streaming happens until 30 October on Netflix.
