Here’s the deal with scrubs; they either feel like the yellow bit of a dish sponge or its green side. They’re either like a caress of a loving hand, or a caress of a loving hand if the hand was made of sandpaper. You get the point; there’s rarely a compromise between gentle and harsh.
Technically, OleHenriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub is both a physical scrub (exfoliant if we’re feeling fancy) and a chemical one. The product with its dried lemon peel and sugar components effectively polishes the skin surface, while a high concentration of AHAs and lemon enzyme work the deeper cleanse by removing dead surface cells.
It falls more on the green side of a dish sponge if we’re being honest, but not in a way that leaves the face feeling raw and dry after, possibly because it includes holy basil extract and chamomile to calm and condition the skin. So while we won’t advise it for those with skin sensitivities, the rest of us grimy folk will find the scour satisfying.
The best part about this skin slushie is that it smells so damn good. We are well aware that scents are objectively not the most helpful ingredient, but psychologically they must do wonders. It’s recommended to mask the scrub up to five minutes to let the acids do their job, but you don’t really need another incentive to prolong the enjoyment of this refreshing citrus fragrance.
Vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free and paraben-free, it’s a great gateway product to the natural Danish skincare brand and… you know, a nice, clean face.
