Your favourite carbonated water is getting a brief facelift. In its history of collaboration with artists for its posters and artworks, Perrier teams with Takashi Murakami for a limited edition design of its bottle labels.
The originator of the 'superflat' movement, Murakami uses his signature motifs (smiling flowers; vibrant colours; Kaikai and Kiki) to create new designs to complement Perrier's iconic green silhouette.
But here's the rub.
While Murakami's designs will emblazon the labels of the classic glass, PET bottles and cans, some will sport his screen-printed designs. These "premium limited-edition" bottles (330ml and 750ml) do not come with the sticker/plastic labels and instead have Murakami's designs ink-transferred across the bottle's surface; the 3330ml bottle features Kaikai and Kiki, who appears in a 30-second animation (see below) produced with the artist himself.
The premium Perrier x Murakami screen-printed glass bottles are available at Hoshino Coffee and Café Coco. For the standard Perrier x Murakami label range, they will be made available progressively in all major supermarkets as well as selected cafes and restaurants. You can also head to Manhattan Bar for your own sparkling experience or purchase online– whoops, looks like the premium screen-printed bottles are sold out.
