Radiohead's lead singer and music maven, Thom Yorke announces the release of his next solo album called ANIMA. Slated for a digital release on 27 June and a physical release on 19 July, not much has been known about the album aside from its name and the following tracklisting:
- Last I Heard (…He Was Circling The Drain)
- Dawn Chorus
- I Am A Very Rude Person
- Not The News
- The Axe
- Impossible Knots
Pre-orders are already available for online.
But here's another thing that we do know aside from the album release: there will also be a musical film by the same name directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (who also did Phantom Thread, There Will Be Blood and Punch-Drunk Love). It's termed as a "one-reeler", which according to the dictionary is a "film contained on one reel of film, with a duration of 10-12 minutes; popular in the era of silent films." If Anderson is strictly keeping to the definition, we expect visuals to not run longer than 15 minutes. It's not a visual album like Beyoncé or The Lonely Island but we're still excited to see it.
ANIMA's "one-reeler" will premiere on Netflix on 27 June.
