For the first season, American Gods started great. It showcased promises of something that would go down as a welcome adaptation of Neil Gaiman's work. But the second season derailed that trajectory. After producers, Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, left after a disagreement over budget, the series didn't quite have the same magic as before. Kristin Chenoweth, who played Easter, and Gillian Anderson, who played Media left the show and the second season was meandering and led to a finale that was… tepid.
If that wasn't enough, season three won't see fan favourite, Mr Nancy (played by Orlando Jones) and the Jinn (Mousa Kraish). Jones claims that his character being written out was racially motivated. Gaiman said that certain characters won't be in season three because the plot didn't require their presences.
So what can we expect from season three? Well, from the trailer that was released over the weekend at the New York Comic Con, Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is hiding out at Lakeside, Wisconsin, from the New Gods. Moon also has to come to terms with his legacy of being the scion of Mr Wednesday (Ian McShane). The most important query is: will this season find its footing?
