At long last, Sony unveiled the release date and pricing for the long-awaited PlayStation 5 console. Launched during the same month of when the Xbox Series X and S, there will be two versions of the PS5 for sale—the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and Digital Edition aka "no disc-drive".
Aside from the difference, both models use the same custom processor with integrated CPU and GPU for high-fidelity graphics, as well as ultra-high speed SSD with integrated I/O to ensure lightning-fast loading. There is also the immersion experience through the DualSense wireless controller and 3D audio capabilities, regardless of which PS5 they choose.
The former retails for SGD729 and the latter at SGD599. There are benefits in getting the PS5 with the disc drive (ie, backward compatibility allows you to play most of your PS4 gaming discs or allow sharing of physical copies) but the Digital Edition's price tag also has its share of allure.
Aside from the PS5 announcement, there are also previews of video games to come. Some of the videos we saw include the Spider-Man: Miles Morales gameplay demo…
…Another Final Fantasy game trailer…
The PS5 will retail for SGD599 (Digital Edition) and SGD729 (with Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive) and be launched on 19 November. Pre-orders begin tomorrow, Friday, 18 September.
