My proudest achievement this year is probably that I watched Netflix's Korean thriller Squid Game—without bingeing it. I paced out my suffering across a week, so it's safe to say the rest of you have likely finished it by now. Otherwise, click away because SPOILER ALERT: PEOPLE DIED. The success of the TV series also seems to confirm how we as a society are collectively obsessed with killing one another for survival in a game setting (looking at you Battle Royale/Hunger Games/Alice in Borderland) …and jumpsuits in general (ie. Money Heist).
Besides googling the currency conversion of South Korean Won to SGD and ogling the cast (Sae-Byeok actress HoYeon Jung in particular), there are three more things that unite us as viewers:
1) Having plenty of questions about loopholes that may or may not be answered in an unconfirmed season two 2) Speculating fan theories about said loopholes, and 3) Getting all the memes. Enjoy.
