News of Loki's death has been exaggerated. The Norse trickster (played by Tom Hiddleston) was last seen in Avengers: Infinity War, breathing his last at the receiving end of Thanos' giant fist. Then, in Avengers: Endgame, as some of the Avengers went back in time to the events of the Chitauri invasion of New York, their presence resulted in Loki taking hold of the Tesseract (which contains the space stone) and escaping (the original ending of Avengers had Thor escorting Loki and the Tesseract to Asgard).
Loki's escape created an alternate timeline and this temporal aberrance led Loki to be held responsible for his actions by the TVA (Time Variance Authority). As Mobius M Mobius (Owen Wilson) assigns Loki to fix the timeline, the trickster deity continues to scheme up his next escape.
From what we've seen from the trailer, the chemistry between Loki and Mobius is scintillating. And when time travel is involved, can we see the introduction of the multiverse? Will this lead to the arrival of mutants? Will this give us an Ultimate Marvel universe (hello Miles Morales!)? We'll find out when the six-parter series arrives June 11.
Loki will be shown exclusively on Disney+.
