Near the end of Trevor Noah's most recent episode of The Daily Show, the comedian treated the live audience to a bittersweet surprised. While reminiscing about his seven-year anniversary hosting the show, Noah announced, somewhat abruptly, that his "time is up."
"I remember when we first started, so many people thought it was a crazy bet, I still think it was a crazy choice, this random African," Noah told the crowd. "What a journey’s it’s been. It’s been absolutely amazing." Eventually, Noah added that he'd keep hosting The Daily Show for "the time being."
You can watch Noah's pre-farewell farewell below. It's obviously too soon to properly send up Noah's Emmy-nominated run on The Daily Show, which included some pretty remarkable—and hilarious—moments covering a quiet decade of news. (Trump presidency, pandemic, burning planet…) So, I'd like to kindly U-Turn this story into another Trevor Noah-centric tale, where the man seemingly did exactly what I'd try to do if I quit my incredibly stressful job of seven years: start dating Dua Lipa! The Daily Mail caught Noah and Dua on a date night in New York City's East Village this week, hanging out at a Jamaican restaurant, before they hugged and smooched at the end of the night. Fun couple, if you ask me: Dua dates way the heck up after splitting with the 23-year-old Hadid kid, and Noah, you know, goes out with frickin' Dua Lipa.
Trevor, your friends at Esquire wish you the best. Feels like only yesterday that you got The Daily Show gig and posed on our cover with a baseball bat! They grow up so fast.
