The grand dame of the punk scene, Vivienne Westwood, continues unabated. In her continual collaboration with ASICS, Westwood drew inspiration from her boutique, called SEX at the time. Operated with Malcolm McLaren, SEX was provocative in both its decor (a four-foot pink foam rubber sign; chickenwire; the SCUM Manifesto graffitied on the walls) and what they sell (fetish and bondage wear; t-shirts with images of trompe-l'œil breasts; Karl Marx patches).
Based on the GEL-KAYANO 27 model, we have the customised GEL-KAYANO 27 LTX (psst, "LTX" stands for latex). This redesigned footwear is customised with a latex (see?) upper, detailed with rubber stocking seams and a statement zip. You can find Westwood's iconic globus cruciger logo printed on the side and finished off with a neoprene inner sock.
It's not marketed as a running shoe but it does retain the same tech as the GEL-KAYANO 27. Like GEL cushioning and Dynamic Duomax, which function together as part of ASICS’ IGS (Impact Guidance System) Technology.
So, yeah, you can still run in it. But you can also pair it with your spike-studded gimp suit and strut like an absolute baller that you are.
ASICS X Vivienne Westwood GEL-KAYANO 27 LTX retails for SGD339 and is available at ASICS Plaza Singapura Store, ASICS online, Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Store (Scotts Square) and Dover Street Market.
