Whisky Live 2019, Southeast Asia’s premier whisky and spirits show, returns for its 10th edition this weekend, 9 to 10 November. Organised by French spirits house, La Maison du Whisky, the annual two-day event is a multi-faceted showcase of the world’s finest whiskies, spirits and gourmet delights.
The event provides an immersive journey of discovery, featuring a desirable range of spirits from artisanal to rare collectables, along with master distillers and industry experts to enlighten you on the world of whisky appreciation.
Although Whisky has long been associated with the image of a dignified mature gentleman, it is one of the most enjoyed spirited drinks around the world. To truly appreciate the elegance and sophistication of the beverage, however, it must be properly tasted first.
Tasting whisky is as much art as it is science, everything from identifying aromas to choosing the glass you drink from is essential to achieve the full experience. The wide glass that is the traditional whisky tumbler, is, in fact, inappropriate and will reflect only the aggressive notes of the spirit. A stemmed tulip-shaped glass is required to concentrate the aromas and is considered the most suitable for whisky tasting.
Whisky Live will feature an expansive tasting hall, inclusive of more than 600 varieties of whisky and spirits to sip, for connoisseurs to discover new flavour profiles and beginners to learn the true art of whisky appreciation. Everyone must start somewhere, and what better way than to surround yourself with industry experts from over 70 whisky and spirit brands and renowned bars.
Tasting is only the beginning of the journey, with an array of masterclasses lead by accomplished whisky and spirit professionals and master distillers, learn the history behind some of your favourite spirits or become an expert in the art of cocktail creation.
Avid connoisseurs will want to make a beeline for the collector’s room — featuring a variety of rare, sought-after bottles, including whiskies’ distilled in the 60’s and 70’s. The most ardent fans will be found in the VIP room, tasting over 100 new and limited whiskies from exclusive brands.
Once straight whisky starts to become a bit too heavy, stroll down to the budding cocktail terrace and enjoy signature cocktails from Singapore’s best bartenders representing world-class local bars.
Tickets are available from the Whisky Live website, for the event to take place this weekend 9 to 10 November.
